Overview

This project involved the raising and full reinstatement of an existing residential dwelling in Rocklea, delivered under the Queensland Government’s Resilient Homes Fund.

With a total project value of approximately $196,000, the works focused on improving flood resilience while ensuring compliance with current building standards and program requirements.

The Challenge

House raising and flood recovery projects present unique challenges that go beyond standard construction.

Key challenges on this project included:

  • Coordinating structural lifting of the existing dwelling
  • Managing ground conditions and temporary support systems
  • Relocating and modifying plumbing and electrical services
  • Working within strict compliance and certification requirements
  • Adapting to evolving site conditions throughout delivery

As with many resilience and insurance-related projects, the scope required flexibility and ongoing coordination as works progressed.

Scope of Works

 The project included:

  • Structural lifting of the existing dwelling
  • Installation of new footings and structural supports
  • Electrical and plumbing relocation works
  • Construction of new access stairs
  • Internal reinstatement and finishing works
  • Coordination of compliance, inspections and certification

All works were delivered in accordance with Resilient Homes Fund requirements and relevant building standards

Our Approach

This project required careful planning, sequencing and coordination across multiple trades and stakeholders.

Our approach focused on:

  • Detailed planning prior to lift and structural works
  • Staged delivery to maintain safety and structural integrity
  • Close coordination between trades, engineers and stakeholders
  • Ongoing communication to manage changes in scope
  • Strict adherence to compliance and certification requirements

By maintaining control across each stage of the project, we were able to ensure safe and efficient delivery from lift through to completion.

The Outcome

The project was successfully delivered, providing the homeowner with a raised, compliant and more flood-resilient property.

The works not only restored the home but significantly improved its ability to withstand future flood events, aligning with the objectives of the Resilient Homes Fund.
