Overview

This project involved the structural raising and renovation of an existing residential dwelling in Deagon, creating a new lower level and improving overall flood resilience.

Works included lifting the existing structure, installing new structural supports, and completing full reinstatement and finishing works in line with current building standards.

The Challenge

House raising projects require careful coordination across structural, services and compliance requirements. Key challenges included:

  • Safely lifting and supporting the existing structure
  • Managing excavation and new footing installation
  • Coordinating structural steel installation and framing
  • Relocating plumbing and electrical services
  • Maintaining compliance with engineering and regulatory requirements

As with many structural projects, the scope required ongoing coordination as site conditions and construction stages progressed.

Scope of Works

  • Structural lifting of the existing dwelling (2.6m raise)
  • Installation of reinforced concrete footings and supports
  • Structural steel beam installation
  • Construction of new lower-level framing and subfloor
  • Plumbing and electrical service relocation
  • Stair design and installation
  • Internal linings and finishing works
  • External drainage and flood resilience improvements
  • Safe asbestos removal and disposal

Our Approach

This project required a structured and staged delivery approach. We focused on:

  • Detailed planning and interpretation of engineering documentation
  • Installation of temporary supports prior to lifting operations
  • Controlled lifting and placement of the structure onto new supports
  • Coordination across trades including structural, services and finishing
  • Ongoing communication with stakeholders and inspectors
  • Ensuring compliance with the National Construction Code and engineering requirements

The Outcome

The project was successfully delivered, resulting in a raised, structurally compliant dwelling with a newly created lower level.

The works improved the property's resilience and functionality while meeting all engineering and regulatory requirements.

  • Structural house raising
  • Multi-trade coordination
